London parks launch urban nature courses
by Rhiannon James
There’s a chance to explore the wild side of London’s Royal Parks this year thanks to a new programme of urban nature courses.
Everything from bug hunts for grown-ups to urban botany classes will be on offer at Greenwich Park, Bushy Park and The Regent’s Park from this month.
Helen Robertson from environmental education charity the Field Studies Council, which is working with The Royal Parks to deliver the programme of 26 different classes, said: “By offering a range of new courses in accessible, urban locations which are short in duration and low in cost, we’re hoping to inspire people about the wonderful wildlife, landscapes and environments on their doorstep. Hopefully these courses will encourage everyone that attends to continue learning about, and experiencing the natural world, which will then be passed on to their children.”
