Frankie Boyle joins campaign to save Glasgow green space
Comedian Frankie Boyle is the latest celebrity recruit to the campaign to save a Glasgow meadow.
The North Kelvin Meadow campaign is opposing plans to build 90 houses and flats on the open space in the city’s West End. The campaign group want the former playing fields to continue as a green space for local residents with allotments, a fruit garden, a meadow area and a wood.
Other well-known campaigners include The Gruffalo author and Children’s Laureate Julia Donaldson and former Taggart actor Colin McCredie.
Glasgow City Council currently owns the land and said its sale to developer New City Vision is conditional on NCV winning full planning permission for the homes with “complementary open space”.
The planning application was submitted in May 2012 and is expected to be considered by planners this month.
